How does Keepsafe protect my data?

Keepsafe uses multiple techniques to ensure that your data remains private and secure.

Encryption

When you add photos and videos to your Photo Vault, they are immediately protected using the industry-standard 256-bit AES encryption. All files are encrypted at rest. The only way to decrypt your files is by unlocking your Photo Vault using your Keepsafe PIN or facial/fingerprint authentication—if enabled. Encrypting your content ensures other apps cannot read or open your files unless you specifically say so. When exporting your files from Photo Vault, they will be decrypted and returned to their original state.

Backup

Keepsafe not only encrypts your files, but also creates encrypted backups just in case you lose your device. For Basic users—Photo Vault's free account—your first 200 items will be backed up. Up to 10,000 items can be backed by upgrading to a paid Premium account. So if, for instance, you drop your phone into a lake, you can easily recover your photos by logging into your account on a new device. Backups also make it easy to keep a secondary device, like a tablet, in sync.

Your PIN

Photo Vault requires that you set a PIN or Pattern passcode so that only you can easily open your vault. Any files located inside will not be decrypted or viewable until after successfully unlocking the PIN screen. In the event of too many failed PIN entries in a row, Keepsafe will automatically prevent further attempts for a short period of time. If you ever forget your PIN, you will need to go through a reset process by getting an access code through your account email address.

Access codes and identity protection

Anytime you log into your Keepsafe account, either on a new or secondary device, you will first need to get an access code from your account email. This ensures it is actually you logging in and not someone else. This same process can be done to reset your pin in the event that you forget it.
